Garnish Island, West Cork
Just off the coast of Glengarriff, nestled in the sheltered waters of Bantry Bay, lies Garnish Island is a peaceful sanctuary along the Wild Atlantic Way. A gentle 15-minute ferry ride from Glengarriff Pier marks the beginning of a slower pace, inviting you to leave the busyness behind and arrive fully in the moment. This 37-acre island is world-renowned for its magnificent gardens and tranquil walking paths. Thanks to a unique microclimate, lush sub-tropical plants and rare trees flourish here, creating a sense of abundance and quiet beauty. Winding paths encourage mindful wandering, gentle movement, and moments of stillness.
Open from March to October, Garnish Island is an ideal place for rest and restoration. There are perfect spots for picnics, yoga and reflection, and simply being, along with a welcoming café and the iconic Martello Tower, whose rooftop offers breathtaking views across the bay. The surrounding waters are rich in wildlife, with seals often delighting visitors as they bask and play nearby.
For our yoga retreat, Garnish Island is more than a place to visit — it’s a place to exhale, reconnect with nature, and allow the body and mind to reset. Time spent here naturally supports presence, calm, and renewal, making it a truly unforgettable part of the retreat experience.
