When Is The Best Time To Visit Ireland?

Singing in the rain!

There really isn’t one perfect answer, but May is one of my favorite times to go, and it’s exactly why we choose May for our Ireland retreat.

reland is beautiful any time of year, but May gives us a wonderful combination of fewer crowds, less traffic, easier access to activities and plenty of time to actually enjoy the experience. The busy summer season is just beginning, so we’re not fighting our way through crowds or spending as much time sitting in traffic. Popular attractions are generally easier to navigate, and there’s more opportunity to slow down and take it all in.

And then there’s the countryside. Ireland in May is green, lush and coming alive with spring. The days are longer, gardens are blooming and the landscape is exactly what you imagine when you picture the Emerald Isle.

Now, let’s talk about the weather It’s Ireland. Which means… you never really know! May can bring sunshine, rain, wind and sometimes all three before lunch. But honestly, we don’t go to Ireland for the weather. We go for the experience. We go for the Wild Atlantic Way, the ancient castles, the tiny villages, the incredible food, the breathtaking scenery, the laughter, the connection and those unexpected moments that become the stories we tell for years.

I’ll happily trade a guaranteed sunny forecast for fewer crowds, quieter roads and more time to experience Ireland. That’s why May is our month. Because we’re not just going to Ireland to see it.

We’re going to experience it.
